In Memoriam

The 2nd Field Artillery Regiment Association was formed in 2011 for serving and ex-members of the 2nd Field Artillary Regiment, 2 Eastern Brigade, Irish Defence Forces.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Rest In Piece

A GUNNERS FAREWELL

I've packed me kit and paid me dues

I'm heading for the gate

Me Gunnering days are over lads

I'm off to face me fate

I'm done with all those battery fronts

And lying in the muck

No more escorts, barracks guards

And freezing in that truck

So no more early escorts

And no more foot patrols

And no more hurry up and waits

From all those prima dolls

I've done my final gun salute

And fired my last round

I'm sick of all the General Staff

Who never stood their ground

I'll hand in both my collar badges

With a twinge of sad regret

But maybe stroke a flash or two

And hold on to my beret

So farewell to the Regiment

Where the NCO's did bark

And farewell to the Barracks

My Barracks by the Park
